Humble ISD schools announce dates to register for 2011-2012 kindergarten classes
Humble ISD schools have announced dates to register for 2011-2012 kindergarten classes. Many schools also have scheduled open houses, or kindergarten roundups, in April and May to help parents learn about the kindergarten program. Students must be 5 years old or older on Sept. 1 to be in kindergarten. After-school care is available for a fee at all Humble ISD schools through the YMCA. Monday, Aug. 22 will be the first day of school.
Instructions for registering can be found on school websites. Parents will need to complete forms and show the following documents to register: the child's official birth certificate; proof of residency shown by a 30-day current electric, gas or water bill, or an apartment lease with the student's name; the child's social security card; the child's immunization record; and the parent's driver's license for identification.
Kindergarten event dates for schools are:
Lakeshore Elementary - Parents should pick up an enrollment packet by April 11. Parents should return paperwork from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 12. At 5 p.m. April 12, Lakeshore's teachers will offer a presentation about kindergarten for parents and children. Paperwork will be accepted after April 12 by appointment only.
Summerwood Elementary - Parents of incoming kindergarten students are invited to Kindergarten Roundup from 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. May 11. The information session for parents will be from 4 to 4:30 p.m. May 11 in the cafeteria. Complete the application and bring the required documents to the Kindergarten Roundup.
