Summerwood ranks as Humble’s top-selling community in national study
With 155 new homes sold in 2010, Summerwood ranked as the number one selling master-planned community (MPC) in the Humble/Northeast Houston submarket, according to a report from RCLCO, a national real estate advisory firm. Nationally, Summerwood ranked 19th on RCLCO's top 20 list, and placed sixth among Houston region developments for new-home sales in 2010.
Located at the Sam Houston Tollway Northeast and W. Lake Houston Parkway, Summerwood has new homes and townhomes priced from the $120,000s to $500,000s. The 1,500-acre community is off to an active start for 2011, introducing new homebuilders and model homes in the first quarter.
"Offering a diverse range of new-home products and fresh model homes has been key to the success of Summerwood," said Kayla Webb, marketing director for Newland Communities, developer of Summerwood. "Location and a wooded environment have also been strong draws for homebuyers, along with onsite schools in the Humble Independent School District."
Eagle Springs, another Humble area MPC being developed by Newland Communities, also did well on the RCLCO study, placing 20th nationally with 147 new-home sales in 2010.
Each year, RCLCO tracks the sales of over 400 master-planned communities (MPCs) across the nation for its annual MPC survey, which it has released since 1994.
Houston had the largest concentration of top-selling communities on the RCLCO list, with eight developments among the top 20. The RCLCO news release also noted that Newland Communities, the nation's largest private developer of master-planned communities, claimed 25% of the communities on the top 20 list, and was the only developer with top-selling communities in multiple markets.
Other Newland Communities in Houston on the RCLCO list included Cinco Ranch in Katy, which ranked number one in Houston and third nationally. Telfair, located in Sugar Land, ranked third in Houston and sixth nationally. Newland's Teravista community in Austin and its FishHawk Ranch community in Tampa were also in the top 20.
