Summerwood residents can earn a business degree close to home
With the recent opening of the Lone Star College-Atascocita Center on W. Lake Houston Parkway, Summerwood now offers everything from Pre-K to Bachelor’s degrees only minutes from home.
The newest offering at LSC-Atascocita Center is a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree in General Business, offered through a partnership with the University of Houston-Downtown. Students can complete the coursework entirely at the LSC-Atascocita Center campus, located at 15903 West Lake Houston Parkway, only a few miles from Summerwood.
Through UH-Downtown, this program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the professional accrediting body for business programs.
The BBA in General Business degree gives students an overview of the principles of modern business including accounting, management and basic communication skills. Some of those courses include legal environment of business, statistical analysis for business applications, commercial law, small business finance, introduction to supply chain, entrepreneurship, and more.
Opened in 2011, LSC-Atascocita Center is a stand-alone campus that provides a variety of services for traditional and nontraditional students who are looking to pursue a higher education degree, acquire training for their jobs or participate in leisure learning. The 62,000-square-foot campus includes a bookstore, learning center, multi-purpose room, student support areas, classrooms and laboratories, and a welcome center.
Other academic courses offered include English, math, social science and ESOL, general biology, and anatomy and physiology.
