Friday, February 03, 2012 - New-home sales in Summerwood increased 20% in 2011, with 188 homes sold last year compared to the 155 sold in 2010. Summerwood’s strong performance vaulted the 1,500-acre community into second place in the Humble/Northeast Houston market, second only to its sister community of Eagle Springs. Both communities are developments of Newland Communities. Summerwood was also one of the top 50 master-planned communities in the United States for 2011, according to a report from RCLCO, a national real estate advisory firm. Tuesday, November 01, 2011 - With the recent opening of the Lone Star College-Atascocita Center on W. Lake Houston Parkway, Summerwood now offers everything from Pre-K to Bachelor’s degrees only minutes from home. The newest offering at LSC-Atascocita Center is a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree in General Business, offered through a partnership with the University of Houston-Downtown. Students can complete the coursework entirely at the LSC-Atascocita Center campus, located at 15903 West Lake Houston Parkway, only a few miles from Summerwood.  [more]

Monday, July 25, 2011 - A midyear report from Metrostudy holds good news for Houston’s real estate market, with overall new-home sales up by 8% in 15 of the city’s largest master-planned communities. Friday, April 15, 2011 - Humble ISD schools have announced dates to register for 2011-2012 kindergarten classes. Many schools also have scheduled open houses, or kindergarten roundups, in April and May to help parents learn about the kindergarten program. Students must be 5 years old or older on Sept. 1 to be in kindergarten. After-school care is available for a fee at all Humble ISD schools through the YMCA. The northeast side has grown steadily over the years, but never really caught fire with high-velocity new development. Lake Houston Parkway from “very good” to “great” with the opening of the road’s final section from U.S. 59 North to just past U.S. 90. With three lanes now open in each direction, commuters can now drive the entire 13-mile stretch of the tollway between U.S. 59 North and U.S. 90 without making a single stop for traffic lights.
